The Opioid Crisis with Drug Free Kids Canada
July 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
The ongoing overdose crisis in Canada has claimed the lives of over 40,000 people between 2016-2023.
Parents and professionals working with youth need to know how to protect not only themselves, but also young people who are using or considering using opioids, stimulants or sedatives for any purpose.
This workshop examines opioids, sedatives and stimulants from a neutral lens, discussing their history, youth trends in use, effects, risks and harm reduction strategies. We will also explore conversation strategies and skills that adults can use to address risky substance use with young people in their lives.
