INTERSECTIONS PROGRAM

Intersections is an early interventions model that focuses on navigation and coordination of services for children and youth who are at risk of being involved in the justice system. The police (after receiving a call or complaint) can refer a child/youth under the age of 17 when there is a suspected mental health issue, developmental disability and/or substance abuse. The Intersections Worker completes an assessment of need and supports the child/youth and their family until they are actively involved in an agreed upon community organization. The goal of this program is to reduce and prevent further interactions with the police and support the family in getting the help they need.
